So I’ve had some complaints/feedback that my blog is all about food. I’m sorry but it’s just one of the most interesting things here, this entry even has a story behind it! The 29th of every month in Uruguay is Gnocchi Day, known here as Ñoquis del 29. A treat for all the Gavin & Stacey lovers, (although a bit depressing when you want to shout out: “Gwen, I’m going for the gnocchi!” every time but no-one knows what you’re on about.) On this day all Uruguayans eat gnocchi and put some money under their plate. It is believed to have come from an Italian tradition that came to the country with all the Italian immigrants. The money under the plates it is meant to bring prosperity for the next month until the next Gnocchi Day, so you will always have enough money to buy gnocchi.
